Swedish National Data Storage Initiative Swestore Problems and Progress Report.
Tom Langborg - SNIC has created a storage infrastructure to complement the computational resources In scientific areas such as high energy physics (the Large Hadron Collider at CERN), climate modelling, bioinformatics, bioimaging etc. the demands for storage are increasing dramatically. To handle this storage situation SNIC created SWESTORE 2008. This is a presentation of SWESTORE and the storage problems scientist have. We are also going to talk about the problems of creating a national storage infrastructure. Core services for SWESTORE are: Harmonized center storage solutions at all six SNIC centers National, distributed transparent-access storage Groups that uses this national storages are BILS, ECDS, a few other user groups.
